The Rt. Rev. Valentine Kalumba, OMI encouraged religious men\nin the Diocese of Livingstone, to take an active role in the life of the\nChurch. Speaking when he addressed the congregation gathered at St. Theresa\u2019s\nCathedral of Livingstone, Zambia, on Saturday 9th<\/sup> February, the Bishop\nasked: \u201cWhere is ARMZ (Association of Religious Men in Zambia)?\u201d  The local ordinary noted the conspicuous lack\nof participation of among religious men, during the Mass held to commemorate\nthe World Day for consecrated Men and Women. The Bishop observed that only ZAS\n(Zambia Association of Sisterhood) took a leading role during the Mass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bishop equally challenged all the Religious \u2013 Women and\nMen, to exhibit unity. \u201cSurprise us. Meet as one family\u201d, directed the Bishop\nto the religious men and women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the Bishop\u2019s desire to see an increased collaboration\namong religious in the Diocese. \u201cWhen are we going to see ZAS, ARMZ and AZADCC together?,\nthe Bishop asked.  \u201cIt is not enough to\njust meet once during this Mass for Consecrated Life\u201d, continued the Bishop. He\ntherefore encouraged them to regularly meet not only for Mass but for social interactions\nas well. \u201cIt is not enough to meet just once in a year. You could perhaps\ngather even for social sharing twice or thrice a year\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still speaking to the religious, the Bishop drew their\nattention to his Episcopal Motto: \u201cThat they may be one\u201d, stating that once the\nconsecrated men and women work together, they would delight him, since they would\nbe fulfilling his vision for the Diocese, of having every one united.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the the faithful during the homily, centered  on the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple (Luke\n2: 22 \u2013 40), the Bishop reminded the people of God, about the significance of\nthe feast. \u201cThe presentation of the Lord, reminds us that there is a gift to be\npresented\u201d, stated the Bishop. He particularly called on the assembly to present\nthe Lord Jesus to others. \u201cThe Lord is a present to be given to others\u201d,\nrecalled the Local Ordinary. \n\n\n\nThis year in the Diocese, the Mass for the Consecrated Life in the\nDiocese was moved from 2nd<\/sup> February to 9th<\/sup> February.  2nd<\/sup> February was reserved for the\nlaunch of the Diocesan Year of Young People, Vocation Discernment and Mission.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
