WHO ARE THEY ARE LITTLE SISTER OF ST. FRANCIS ?

The Little Sisters of St. Francis (LSSF) is a Congregation of Franciscan Spirituality, of which St. Francis of Assis is the founder.

The Congregation an Apostolic Religious Institute.

It was founded on 10th April, 1960 by Bishop Phelim Timothy O’Shea OFM Cap. The Congregation follows the rule of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis.

WHAT IS THE CHARISM OF THE LITTLE SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS?

Contemplating the Poor Humble Crucified Christ manifested in the vulnerable and marginalized of the society.

WHAT DO THEY DO?

HEALTH

They are involved is health ministry, they run Rural Health Centres, HIV/AIDS Programs, running a Cheshire Home, giving services to children with disabilities through physiotherapy, referring them for corrective surgery to other hospitals.

EDUCATION

Offering education through running of Pre-schools, Primary Schools and a Secondary school. Also offering Special Education to Children with disabilities.

Their emphasis is on educating a girl child.

TRANSFORMATION

Education and empowerment of vulnerable women and girl child in Skills training and income generating activities.

The Sisters also help school drop-out and women through training in different skills for life to help them generate funds.

EVAGELISATION

They evangelize through media, involvement in catechetical work in parishes, home visitation and through their professional work wherever they are working, be it in government institutions or other organization.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Catholic who is Baptized, Confirmed and actively participating in the parish.
  • A person with a desire to follow Christ and to serve the people for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
  • A person of prayer.
  • A person with good health in mind and body.
  • A Person with full grade 12 certificate to enable her get into college.
  • A person who is already a professional.
