ST. PAUL’S NAWINDA PARISH
On 25th January, 2013 bishop Raymond Mpezele had issued a letter of establishing a new Parish in Nawinda. Nawinda area was previously a part of Sichili Parish but it was long ago marked as a sub parish and eventually an independent parish. The reason being that the size of Sichili Parish made it difficult to pay sufficient pastoral care of the two zones of Samisisi and Nawinda from Sichili.
The first task was to visit existing 9 outstations and prepare people for baptisms. In the first 2 years about 300 baptisms were registered in the new baptism book as well as 10 marriages and about 70 confirmants.
The new church dedicated to St. Paul was opened by Bishop Raymond on 21st June, 2015. The Rural Health Centre is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2015.
The three year course for pastoral and teacher animators is continuing and we are hopeful that the animators will carry a lot of pastoral work in the outstations and the center.
The challenge is to have more priests and religious to run different pastoral and development programs.
