ST. FRANCIS’
St. Francis Catholic Church of Dambwa Parish originates from Zambezi Saw Mills compound (ZSM), And in 1905 mission of God´s was realized in Livingstone. Eventually in 1931 the seed of faith started to sprout in the Zambezi Sawmill Area with the help of Capuchin Priests. Over the years , St. Francis’ Parish has been served by various Priests, and Religious sisters, among them the Fidei Donum priests and the Divine Word Missionaries [SVD]. the Little Sisters of St. Franci (LSSF).
The Church was called Zambezi Saw Mills Catholic Church which was an out station of Maramba Parish; it also had a school within its premises. The construction of the Church building where St. Francis Church is currently located started in 1972, and was opened in the year 1974. Although the construction of the church was finished in between 1973 – 1974 the church was officially blessed and opened in 1975, by then the Bishop Adrian Mung’andu (Late).
Currently, the Parish is run by the Divine Word Missionaries (SVDs).
St. Francis Parish has Sixteen Small Christian communities & two out stations (Nakatindi and Simonga).
