Young people impress Bishop Kalumba

Rt. Rev. Valentine Kalumba, OMI., is highly impressed with the initiative taken by the young people in the Diocese to contribute towards the Seminarian Fund. Noting their historical contribution, the Bishop stated: “For the first time in our diocese, the young people of our diocese, the youth, have seen the need to support seminarians, so they also contributed something according to their capacity.”

Elated at their generous contribution, the Bishop could not hide his joy in thanking the young ones in front of their parents. “I take this opportunity to thank them in the presence of their parents here.”

Seminarians grateful to their mothers

Another historical mark at this year’s event of the Presentation of Seminarian Fund were the words of gratitude coming from the direct beneficiaries of the seminarian fund. Students from the Mpima Philosophical Seminary had this to say: “We, the seminarians of the Catholic Diocese of Livingstone, at St. Augustine’s Major Seminary, Mpima, would like to express our deepest gratitude to all members of the diocese who help us in our formation.”

“We do admit that without your support, it is very difficult to manage on our own,” continued the Seminarians.

Meanwhile the Theology Students from St. Dominic’s Major Seminary, Lusaka, expressed their indebtedness to the women in these words: “We would wish to express our sincere gratitude through your Lordship to our dearest Mothers (the Women’s Ministry) for the continued support given to us for the continuation of our studies through the Seminarian Fund Program.”

The students value the women’s support when they stated in their letter read by the Bishop: “It is through this support that we are able to be in the seminary studying today.”

This year’s Seminarian Fund Event was held at Christ the King Parish, Maramba.

A total of K344,079.05 was raised, of which K5,370.00 came from the initiative of the Diocesan Youth Ministry.
