Kalumba confirms 42

Rt. Rev Valentine Kalumba, OMI, conferred the Sacrament of confirmation to 42 candidates at a colourful Sacred Liturgy held at Our Lady of Angels Parish, Livingstone, on Sunday 8th November, 2020.

Find something to do in the Parish”

The Bishop implored the newly confirmed to seriously take their Christian faith. As confirmed people in the Catholic Church they are to deepen their faith by sharing it with others.

Rt. Rev. Valentine Kalumba, OMI with the newly confirmed at Our Lady of Angels Parish, Livingstone. Zambia.

‘Work has started…..work has to start now. We thank you for offering yourselves for the service of the church ….find something to do in the church. Don’t just put the (confirmation) certificates that you will be given in your room and then you forget. Find something that will keep you active in the church.. in that way your light  will be burning, and we hope it will continue burning till the end of time’, encouraged the Local Ordinary.

“Continue teaching the doctrine, faith of the Church”

Bishop Kalumba was highly delighted with the pastoral zeal that exists in the parish of Our Land of Angels. He highly commended the Priests for taking a great role in the teaching office of the church.

‘I would like to commend you (the priests) for the service you are doing in the church. For the teaching and sanctifying office you are doing.

‘Continue teaching the doctrine, continue teaching the faith of the church. We lose some Christians going to other church groups, because they feel we are not doing enough. ….Keep the lessons going on, that’s how we grow the faith’, encouraged the Bishop.

“Work on self-sustanability”

Whereas he was impressed with the general performance of the sacramental , spiritual and liturgical life of the parish, the Bishop bemoaned the lack of income generating activities at the parish.

‘I just want to encourage you on the subject of self-sustainability. This parish is run by missionaries.

‘Supposing tomorrow diocesans take over, who is going to feed the diocesans priests, the bishop inclusive? So try by all means to find some income generating projects.

‘Even if we have missionaries, nowadays  missionary support is becoming less and less, from America and Europe. Why, they are saying: “Africa you have to take care of yourself”.

‘So I encourage you to find viable income generating projects in this Parish. Look around, put  the heads together. There is something we can do, implored the Bishop of Livingstone.

Fr. Michael Tsoka Mumba, OFM Cap., Parish Priest of Our Lady of Angels was highly delighted to welcome the Bishop to the Parish. He thanked him for his pastoral presence and encouraged. He equally thanked the parishioners for exhibiting the spirit of hospitality and oneness.

The Bishop of Livingstone makes annual Pastoral visits to all parishes in the diocese, where he gets to meet parishioners and gives the Sacrament of Confirmation to eligible candidates.
