Rt. Rev. Valentine Kalumba, OMI, on Saturday 28th November, in a solemn Mass held to make the closure of the Year of the Word of God, challenged the Christians in the Diocese of Livingstone, to bear fruits of the Year of the Word of God.

“It’s time for the commission. It’s time to go out and make disciples for Jesus. Today’s gospel passage [Mt. 10: 5 – 15] gives us a plan for missions and evangelization” said the Bishop of Livingstone.

Do not keep the Word to yourselves

Continuing his reflection on the year of the Word of God, the  Bishop emphasized:

‘It is not good to keep to ourselves this Word which we have lived throughout the year.

‘Go to the lost sheep of Israel,…the lost sheep of our diocese, the lost sheep of our parishes, the lost sheep of our Small Christian Communities (S.C.Cs), those people who have lost their way.

‘Jesus wants you and I to go out.

‘We now want to go out and share our experiences of loving the Word, our experience of living the word, and our experience of acting upon the word’.

The Solemn Mass was celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Theresa in Livingstone, and was attended by a restricted number of parishioners , largely drawn from the faithful around Livingstone Parishes, due to the COVID-19 pandemics.
